Travel through deep forbidden forests and the far reaches of space! Disasterpeace is a curious form of chipmusic that blends progressive rock, minimalist, jazz, and dance tendencies with an aesthetic sensibility that pays homage to the sounds of the past yet that is largely synthesized from scratch.
Blip: Before you got into making chip music, what type of music or art where you into?
I was doing graphic design and very guitar-centric music.
When I started frequenting the Metroid Metal forums back in 2004 and became familiar with artists like Temp Sound Solutions.
I still write a portion of my chipmusic on guitar and I’ve been including guitar in my productions lately.
As one of the guys behind Pause I like to think I gave some artists an alternative place to put out their music. As an artist I don’t see myself in any particular place, just another musician expressing himself as best he can.
Little-Scale! I find his mastery of combining hardware with software fascinating and I’m looking forward to seeing it in action.
I’ll continue to explore different avenues, but there will always be a place for chipmusic in my repertoire.
Disasterpeace is playing Blip Festival on TBA
